Station Yard during 1910 as I at first estimated.

rails necessary for the extension of the passenger

station can be taken from those originally booked

against the sidings.

The

STATION BUILDINGS: When it was decided to

have only a temporary Station costing $55,000 instead

of a permanent one costing $226,000 it was agreed to

leave the balance of $171,000 in the Estimate to

cover the increased land purchase.

STATION MACHINERY: Messrs. Leigh & Orange's

Contract being extended till the end of 1910 makes

it necessary to give them a great deal of the work

under this heading at the current rates of their

contract which are higher than ordinary departmental

rates elsewhere on the Railway. The addition is

only a rough estimate.

STATION FURNITURE: No provision was made

in the Estimate of June 1907 for Kowloon Station

Building furniture.

PLANT: The erection of the plant for the

tunnel is estimated for in page 24 of the June 1907

Estimate.

The price of plant under Main Head "Plant"

is the catalogued value in England plus an allowance

for delivery in Hongkong.

This is the usual way of dealing with the

cost of plant on other Railways on which I have been

working. The debit schedules will show this.

The

cost charged to "plant" is the actual cost landed

in the Colony while the cost of carriage to site

of works from the Store Yard is charged to the works.

ROLLING STOCK.
